We have just returned from our first trip to paradise. Everything was exceptional – the food, service, accommodation, activities, atmosphere etc. The managers and staff are fantastic. The kids club is like no other you will ever experience. In the morning our eight-year-old daughter’s buddy would arrive at breakfast and ask her what she wanted to do – “kayak to an island, snorkeling, fishing, playing on the waterslide?” the list goes on… She had the time of her life, and hid when it came time to leave. I read people cry when they leave, and I understand why. Yes, you may hear a child crying occasionally, but you are more likely to hear their squeals of laughter, birds, gentle waves, the ocean breeze rustling through the palm trees, and beautiful harmonies from the Bula Boys band. We spoke to guests without children and they also said it was the most amazing place they have ever been. We swam under a waterfall in a rainforest, saw colored coral and a turtle when snorkeling, walked along a deserted beach to the local village where we were greeted by an employee from the resort on his day off, who then insisted on showing us around. I feel like we have joined a secret club of people in the know. Yes it is expensive – yes it is worth it. Unfortunately the hotel reconfirmed our flight bookings the night before we left without us knowing…we were hoping to miss the flight! Be warned, you won’t want to leave.

We have just returned from 3 nights at Jean-Michel Cousteau in beautiful Savasavu. The resort is excellent – limited to 25 bures spread across beautiful tropical gardens. It seems to cater primarily to families with small children but don’t be put off by that – we didn’t really notice them at all because there are separate pool & dining facilities for those without children. All you really notice is there are so many nannies with happy children in tow, undertaking all sorts of activities throughout the day. There are separate children’s facilities (2 pools) and plenty to do for everyone – diving, snorkeling, swimming, relaxing. All manner of diving and water sports are on offer. Great food (choice of 3 courses at both lunch & dinner ), friendly staff, excellent spacious accommodation – we would highly recommend this resort to all – couples or parents traveling with children. You will not be disappointed.

We just spent 7 nights at Jean-Michel Cousteau. This place is fabulous, period. As pampered and relaxed as one could want (sea-side massages, amazing service, relaxed atmosphere, daily yoga, lots of space, Fijians strumming guitars and singing gorgeously by the pool at meal times, a private hammock outside your bure…and the list goes on), and/or catering to those who want to be more active (fishing, diving, snorkeling, hiking, catamarans…) and/or engaged with the local community. There were regular trips to a local village and weekly markets. Beware, there are things the resort does not tell you about on their website… the incredible organic garden from which you will eat, the rainforest hike that ends with a swim under an amazing waterfall. The food is delicious by any standards (we live in Sydney and love our food). Our 2 and 4 year old had a ball as you will read through the other reviews. We befriended a couple on their honeymoon from San Francisco and they hardly noticed there were kids on site. I hesitate to write this review as we would like to keep this place the best kept secret, possibly in the world. We will be back as nothing else will compare now.

So Relaxing!

I recently had the pleasure to stay at this resort with my partner and my two year old daughter. I thought it was a bit pricey before I had arrived but believe me it’s worth every penny!! The service is excellent! Everything about this resort is fantastic. The staff is incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. My daughter spent time in the Bula Club and loved it so much, she still misses her nanny Kessia. The food is incredible, I have never been fed so well. Kitty organized our wedding and everyone in the whole hotel worked to give us the most perfect beautiful wedding ever!!! I also had my birthday there and I got very spoilt with a big chocolate cake and every one singing a big happy birthday! The snorkeling here is phenomenal and I recommend the private Island picnic, it was one of the highlights of my trip! I will definitely come back to this place and get my diving ticket first!

I can’t explain enough how great this holiday was. Food-Fantastic!! Cocktails-Yum!! Pools-Brilliant!! Nanny-Woohoo!! Waterslide-Awesome!! Activities-too many & not enough time!! Bed-Super comfy!!! Staff-all I can say is THANK YOU!!!!
