Fiji Family Vacations: Bula Club

Kids love Bula Club! Here children explore and learn about Fijian culture, the environment and the natural world around them. Children are delighted with this fun and stimulating program. And so are parents, since Bula Club is complimentary.

Bula Club features a daily program of children's activities that are fun, educational and cultural – and parents are welcome and encouraged to participate, too! Bula Club offers two levels of activities to meet the differing needs and competencies of toddlers, children and adolescents:

• The Lei Lei Bula Club Program is for children 0 to 7 years old.
  
  
• The Marau Bula Club Program welcomes kids ages 8 to 13.

The complimentary Bula Club program included in the Family Bure rate features fresh, healthy meals; bottled soft drinks; daily activities; special excursions; some giveaway items; and the Bula Club staff. Note the tariff does not include mixed non-alcoholic beverages or some off-site excursions; these incur a nominal charge as a donation to the community and will be noted in advance on the Daily Activity Schedule.

Child Care
Our personal child care means parents have to brief their dedicated nanny (or nannies) on a child's needs just once. To ensure a positive bond, we encourage parents to include their nanny in family activities other than Bula Club. Should an older child have special needs requiring close supervision, parents can arrange for such care free of charge.

We know that children sometimes even need time out from fun. If parents are busy during the day, nannies will follow the parents' requested schedule for “sleeps” or take kids for quiet time on the beach. In the evening, after parents have put their children to bed, the nanny can take over, so parents can enjoy a romantic, candlelit dinner alone.

Bula Club extends from 8.00am to 9.00pm daily, so parents can enjoy diverse activities on their own, confident their children are in good care. This schedule also means that divers can go for the day to Namena, one of the world's top Marine Reef systems.

Options
Each day children choose the Bula Club activities they wish to participate in. Alternately, if parents prefer their kids do not attend Bula Club, we have many activities for the family to enjoy. Here are several: Our private island is very popular as a family excursion and nannies can accompany the family if parents wish. A charge applies for the island. Families may book a private picnic on the resort beach anytime, at no extra charge. A private daybed can also be reserved on the beachfront for families wanting private time by the sea; buckets and spades are provided on request. Other optional family activities include fishing charters, sunset cruises, touring the area by hired car or bikes, or simply visiting Savusavu town for the day.

Activities
So guests can plan their upcoming fun, the resort provides a Daily Activity Schedule that outlines both the Adults Activity Program and Family Activity Program. This is provided to each bure at Turndown the previous evening and on the Bulletin Board near the Serenity Pool.

Many activities welcome both adults and children. These include the Village Trip, Market Trip and Rainforest Hike. The family snorkel program is tailored to the needs of all children. These outings are often hosted by our Marine Biologist, who leads snorkel trips for both families and adults. Families may also snorkel or swim anytime at the end of the pier in our Marine Reserve, or have a private snorkeling excursion for a nominal cost. For water babies, our Dive Centre offers a Bubble program for children under 10 in the Family Pool; those 10 years and over can take resort and certified scuba courses, subject to health and competency.

Note that where an activity is not suitable for children under a certain age, we schedule an appropriate Family experience. For example, we take families with children under 8 years to a more child-friendly rainforest location, where parents may either go with the kids, or let the nannies take them on this excursion while adults explore a more challenging area.

Some experiences, however, are reserved for adults only. For example, we do not take children under 13 years on designated “adult” snorkeling trips, no matter how competent kids are. This ensures an adult experience for the group and addresses potential liability issues.

Our Family program is designed to ensure a wonderful experience for the entire family that is fun, safe and educational. Thanks to one-on-one nannies personally dedicated to each child and his or her specific needs, kids enjoy activities and experiences of a lifetime that will become treasured family memories. With their children happy and safe, parents enjoy a carefree holiday as a couple and the pleasures of rest, relaxation and romance with their partners.

Bula Club Facilities
Just a short walk from the main building and guest bures, the Bula Club grounds feature a kids-only freshwater swimming pool, jungle gym, slide, sandbox, and an activities bure for arts & crafts. Other amenities just for kids include special children's menus and mealtimes.
